Brookwood History Project

Many of our members have experience of life in mental asylums in the Surrey area, especially with Brookwood Hospital which closed in 1994.

They have been working closely with Historians at the Surrey History Centre to provide rich personal accounts of living within a mental institution. This has included being able to tell the stories behind the many photographs of this time, bringing history to life.
