Woking Minders FC is a mental health service users football team founded in April 2008. We are the first mental health football club to be registered with the Surrey FA. The team currently competes in the Positive Mental Attitude League. The team comprises of players who attend the Woking Mind drop in centre. They include players from Alpha Hospital and others referred by Woking CMHT. The team aims to be self sufficient and run by service users, who are being encouraged to attend football related courses to fill the roles needed to run the football club.
Woking Minders are coached by Chris Sexton, a Woking FC Trainer. Initial start up funding has come from The Football Foundation (equipment), Calor Gas Guildford (kit sponsors) and Donal Hegarty Surrey CC Commissioner (Training pitch fees). The team is indebted to Woking FC and Jane Spong, Woking FC Football in the Community Director, for advice, loan of equipment, general support and goodwill.
The Woking Minders Team trains most Fridays. The team colours are red, white and black.
