“Wind, rain & some serious terrain have quite literally brought me to my knees” By Steve G
What a day! Having wild camped last night I was up at sunrise to try and make it from Porthleven, round the peninsular at Lizard point and onto Coverack. Wind, rain and some serious terrain have quite literally brought me to me knees. Shortly after taking a video the wind took my legs from under me. A guy came over to see if I was alright. As he did so he also fell over. We commented it was like a 70’s outward bound TV sitcom. We both just laid there and laughed.
Another highlight was a guy approaching me at a cafe to see how far I was hiking. I told him the South West Coast path for Woking Mind. He took their fundraising page details and I see he has just donated. Honestly, people can be so kind. Thanks Phil and his wife. Have also just seen all the other kind donation so far. A huge thank you!
I was going to wild camp again tonight but arrived cold, wet and incredibly tired so I booked into a hostel. What luxury!
I decided this morning I’m on my way back for a break!
I was originally going to make it up to St Austell by Thursday and catch a train from there. However, the weather is looking pretty “iffy” and my only realistic option accommodation wise is wild camping! (Note: wild camping is fantastic as it keeps the cost down and you feel really in touch with the environment. Arrive late and leave early, leaving no evidence you ever been there. However, there’s a reason why homes are so popular!)
An act of kindness. I passed this little gem on the outskirts of the tiny village of Coverack. Thank you!
